The storyline of the film brings us back to April 1944, when  two Slovak Jews, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, fled from a concentration camp. Their report was not echoed properly by the Allies and thus the mass killing continued.  The information they brought could have contributed to halt of deportations of Hungarian Jews. After 3-week-journey the fugitives came finally to Jewish comunity in Žilina, where a shocking surprise awaited them: nobody believed their story. Vrba and Wetzler wrote a 32-page report, that found its way to the pope to Vatican, to president Roosevelt, prime minister Churchill as well as journalists. But there was no response at all. The Allies didn´t take any steps to stop the deportations. From then on the story of the fugitives can be called „The conspiracy of silence“. Its consequences exceed through present to the future in the form of Holocaust denial...
