In Happily Ever After, documentarian Jana Počtová explores five stories of people who have decided to seek happiness in relationships that could hardly be considered usual. “What do 21st century relationships look like? Is the monogamous model of a man and a woman still enough? Does love not take more varied shapes than what is normalised by the society?” asks the director. Polyamory, an open relationship, online love, and long-term relationship with a married partner. The protagonists’ stories form a diverse mosaic of relationships that have one thing in common: each of them deviates from the deep-rooted model of relationships. Even though these “forms of love” are not as rare as they used to be, they are still not openly discussed.
