SUSTAINABILITY AT FILM FESTIVALS
SUSTAINABILITY AT FILM FESTIVALS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF COVID-19 – ONLY FOR REGISTERED FILM PROFESSIONALS
9. november, 10:00 – 11:00
As a driving force in the film industry, film festivals are key players in raising awareness among industry professionals about sustainable film production, but what is the impact on the environment of holding such events? What are the measures film festivals need to take in order to lower their carbon footprint and serve as an example to filmmakers and film industry professionals? How did the novel experience of pandemic measures influence our perception of this theme?
A panel discussion on how festivals should take responsibility for the environment and fight unnecessary waste, take care with the use of energy and resources, develop strategies to reduce, reuse and recycle resources, contribute to a healthy and sustainable working climate and create awareness among their teams and visitors. Which of these goals might be difficult to achieve? What are the main changes in our approach during the COVID-19 pandemic?
PANELIST: Birgit Heidsiek, a graduate in political science, has been a journalist covering national and international media for many years. In addition to her work as a writer/editor, she is the publisher of Green Film Shooting magazine and the independently produced Branchen Bulletin series.
